Anthony Chariton

Anthony Chariton is the co-founder of the Environmental DNA (eDNA) and Biomonitoring Lab, Macquarie University. Anthony is one of the early pioneers of environmental DNA metabarcoding, with his research focusing on the development, application and integration of ‘omic’ technologies for the monitoring and assessment of aquatic systems. Specifically, Anthony’s interest is in understanding how the structure, function and connectivity of communities respond to both natural and anthropogenic stressors. His research captures a broad range of systems, both aquatic and terrestrial, and a diverse range of scenarios, from developing eDNA-based aquatic monitoring programs to indirectly monitoring Australia’s unique terrestrial fauna by DNA-sequencing the blood of mosquitoes which have preyed upon them.
