Kini KK Koto Mailautoka
I am Kini Koto Mailautoka and I currently work with the National Trust of Fiji as a Conservation Officer for the Sovi Basin Protected Area (SBPA), the largest forest protected area in Fiji. Sovi is approximately 16,400 hectares of land and we are progressing slowly into the co-management of the protected area between the organization and the communities. Being under a Conservation Lease, the organization intends to nurture, protect and conserve the resources there in; there are future plans to maintain the status of the protected area and develop it into ecotourism site; where activities like hiking, bird watching and rafting can take place. This is also an area where many of our resources, biodiversity and i cavuti (Totem species) are protected.
