Jonathan R Behrens

Jonathan (Jonny) Behrens is a post-doc at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, under the Watershed Dynamics and Evolution (WADE) Science Focus Area. He is advised by Marie Kurz, Natalie Griffiths, and Scott Brooks. Jonny completed his PhD at Duke University in Ecology with Emily Bernhardt and Martin Doyle. His research employs methods in ecosystem and community ecology, environmental chemistry, and ecotoxicology to investigate how human activities alter the movement of energy, chemical contaminants, and biota in urbanized and forested stream ecosystems. Prior to his doctoral work, Jonathan was a science policy fellow at the Science and Technology Policy Institute in DC, where he supported federal agencies and the cabinet-level National Science and Technology Council on national assessments of drinking water contaminants, methane emissions, and earth observations. Jonathan also wrote for the American Institute of Physics’ FYI: Science Policy News, covering federal science policy on Capitol Hill and federal agencies.
