Raquel M Gonzalez
Raquel Gonzalez is a first-generation Latina college graduate. She majored in Environmental Science with a minor in Biology at Georgia State University. In her studies, Raquel focused on conservation biology and ecology and is particularly interested in aquatic ecosystems. She is interested in conducting research to aid in the conservation of at-risk species. As part of the USFWS Directorate Fellows Program, she led a research project on the conservation genetics of an endangered freshwater mussel. Raquel also volunteers at the Georgia Aquarium and the Amphibian Foundation in Atlanta. Raquel is currently working as a teaching assistant at Georgia State, where she teaches introductory biology labs and a course-based undergraduate research lab. Raquel plans to attend graduate school in the Fall of 2023 to further her knowledge of biology and progress toward a career as a researcher. When she isn't busy studying, Raquel enjoys hiking, running, and powerlifting.
