Mariely Vega Gómez
Mariely Vega Gómez is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate from the Department of Applied Ecology at North Carolina State University. Born in Puerto Rico, she grew to appreciate the island’s natural resources, its people, and the resilience they all possess in the face of natural disturbances. Her current research focuses on answering how tropical stream ecosystems respond to droughts and hurricanes using aquatic insects as model organisms.
