Erin McCombs
Erin works in American Rivers’ Southeast Region, largely in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee, to protect and restore streams to ensure communities thrive with clean water and healthy rivers. She has in-depth knowledge of freshwater mussels and works to understand their decline, and advocates for the protection of freshwater biodiversity. Erin also works to advance the capacity and momentum to restore streams through dam removal through program and policy development, technical assistance, training, and project management.
Erin spent her graduate school years with a mask and snorkel on to peer under the water’s surface, and she continues to enjoy the absolute awe and wonder in observing Southern Appalachian stream communities- it’s like a coral reef of color and activity!
