MARGRET SINDA
Margret Sinda is an early career fisheries and aquaculture scientist from Malawi. She graduated with a Bachelors in fisheries from Mzuzu University. Margret is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in aquaculture at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Margret has worked as a research assistant with Mzuzu University Centre of Excellence in Water and Sanitation under Balmore Trust Mus project where she assisted with the analysis of water quality parameters in different water bodies. She has also worked as an intern with the GIZ funded Aquaculture Value Chain Project (AVCP) where she supported the project with preparation and implementation aquaculture round table workshops and offer technical trainings to fish farmers. As a department of fisheries intern, Margret also participated in the Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture and Watershed Management Project (SFAD), whose primary responsibilities included; implementing sustainable fisheries management programs, perform analysis of fish stock trends, and promote income generating activities. Her interest’s centers on water quality and fish health since the directly affect the overall behavior of fish. She is also passionate about science communication and research being the backbone of fisheries management.
