Michael Borbolla

Michael Borbolla graduated from Florida International University (FIU) with a B.A. in Biology and Natural/Applied Sciences and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in the Tropical Rivers lab (TRL) at FIU. In his dissertation research, Michael will be studying social-ecological interactions in Miami-Dade County using interdisciplinary methods. Projects covered in his thesis will include urban subsistence fishing in the Miami River and invasive Peafowl in Coconut Grove. Much of Michael’s research is inspired from his own urban fishing practices where he was able to meet and talk to other Latine residents who were unknowingly bridging social and ecological ecosystems through their fishing practices.
